Gentle Heritage: Pleasant Bay – South Orleans, MA
Our iconic family estate sits on 300 feet of waterfront on Pleasant Bay in South Orleans with over 180’ views from Nauset Beach and the Atlantic to Chatham and Quanset Pond. Spend the day at the spacious new pool or walk down the path to the waterfront and deck. Sit on the deck enjoying some quiet time. Watch the birds, catch fish or dig clams for dinner, or just watch the sunrise or sunset – we have both.
Bring your sunfish, kayaks and paddleboards or rent them nearby and explore the many islands and coves around Pleasant Bay. Tow your motorboat and launch at the town landing to explore the great Orleans/Chatham area. Or just float on a raft in the water or at the pool.
All 17 rooms offer water views! The expansive lawn provides ample space for both relaxation and recreation. Built around the turn of the 20th century, the house gives everyone room to gather as a group or enjoy some privacy.
The southern exposure waterfront side of the house features a large sunroom several porches, and a spacious terrace. The heated pool area overlooks Pleasant Bay and has several dining sets, a gas grill and multiple lounge chairs as well as an enclosed outdoor shower.
Accommodations include 9 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths that sleep up to 19 guests. The primary ensuite bedroom has a king bed. There are two ensuite queen bedrooms. The third queen bedroom shares a full bath with a twin bedroom. Four other bedrooms have sets of twin beds and one more offers three twin beds ensuite. There are no bunk beds, trundles, sleep sofas or multiple beds in a room
For entertainment the game room is a popular gathering place with a pool table. There are two living rooms, a screened porch, an open porch – all this offers opportunities to be together or to find a private area. Cooks will be delighted with two fully equipped kitchen. Or, you can arrange a private chef for those days no one feels like cooking.
Everyone can personally dial in the temperature they prefer as all 9 bedrooms have mini split AC systems. Cleaning and linens are provided. There is a very large parking area. WiFi. Tvs.
The estate is available for families and for special gatherings by the week from May through November and by 3-day week-ends in the off season.
